Overview
Winslow Public Hall, a historic community space, underwent a significant £850,000 refurbishment and extension to modernize its facilities. Despite these improvements, the hall’s functionality was hindered by poor acoustics caused by high ceilings and a large, open layout. These issues created an uncomfortable listening environment, making it challenging for the space to host events and gatherings effectively. Recognising the need for an acoustic upgrade, Winslow Town Council turned to SilentSpace to provide a tailored solution. Using Resonics as our preferred installers.
The Challenges
Large spaces with high ceilings, like Winslow Public Hall, often experience excessive echo and reverberation, where sound waves bounce uncontrollably around the room. This effect results in a “booming” sound that distorts speech clarity and reduces the overall quality of performances and events. Winslow Public Hall needed a solution that not only tackled these acoustic challenges but also blended harmoniously with the hall’s refurbished interior design.
The Solution
SilentSpace supplied over 60 SilentRaft fabric-wrapped acoustic panels to address these issues. Suspended from the ceiling using wire hangers, the panels were strategically positioned to give class A sound absorbtion and minimize reverberation.
